For me, the short answer is yes. Because the experience and the knowledge that you gain from something you are passionate about is always worth it. But what if you discovered that you love fashion at a much later stage. Like in my case, I have already finished a full degree in Business. I can’t just repeat another entire 4 years, not to mention that it’s almost double the cost now being abroad and in France. Luckily, there are options for short-term courses in Paris and this might also work for you. I was able to get fashion design jobs with this course. However, without planning it, I became a fashion design lecturer. And as you know in education, the degrees matter. Soon there was a rule in the school where I worked, that the teacher should be at least, a degree higher than the students. Which is why I chose to take my MBA in Fashion Industries and Luxury Goods, I chose Paris again because one, I love it and two, I don’t think I can learn another language again haha and I would also like to improve my French so it all works out.
However, not everyone has the time or the resources to go to fashion school. What are your other options. I know YouTube is the common response…but to be honest, I feel that they do not share everything they know in the free videos. Like, I have some online students who were self-taught but they signed up for the online tutorials in Superprof because they just want to get the direct answers.
In my YouTube channel and on Tiktok, I do share some of the questions I get asked during class. Perhaps, this could give you a preview of what we’re learning these days. And if ever you’re interested to sign up a class with me, just click the contact button on top of this page.
