Paris for Free: Museums and Exhibitions

Well, I don’t want to take credit if you go to the official Paris websites and Sortiraparis.com, you’ll find a very complete lists of places that are free each week. I, however, do not have the patience to update this all the time.

However, I could tell you a few places that I’ve been to for free, every first Sunday of the month. Please note, that some places, you have to book ahead even if it’s for free. It’s always best to check the website or to call ahead of time. Yes, this is not the land of emails…phone call is still very much a thing here.

Musée de L’Orangerie / Metro Concorde Line 8/12 – Right when you exit the metro, you get inside the Tuileries garden and you can see the museum.

What to look for: Claude Monet’s Waterlily Paintings

Musée de Quai Branly

Metro line 6 Bir Hakeim A bit of walk from the Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel as we say in French)

Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection 2 rue de Viarmes, 75001 Paris Metro Line 1: Les Halles

They feature the Pinault collection and plus the building in itself is fabulous!

59 After Squat

Free expositions of the cool artists and painters in Paris. Love this place and it’s easy to spot while walking Rue Rivoli. Entrance is free but there is a donation box if you want to support the artists.

Here are the other places that I’ve been to for free. Will add photos and details soon! 🙂

Musée D’Orsay

1 Rue de la Légion d’Honneur, 75007 Paris

Cité de L’Architecture et Du Patrimoine

1 Pl. du Trocadéro et du 11 Novembre, 75116 Paris

Musée de la Vie Romantique (always free)

16 Rue Chaptal, 75009 Paris

Musée Carnavalet (always free)

23 Rue de Sévigné, 75003 Paris

Musée du Louvre (Samedi Nocturne/ Night time)

Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris

This one, don’t hold your breath for it, as tons of people have the same idea. Lol. We probably waited for one hour, to be able to enter. Anyway, it’s the Louvre, if you have to pay for something…i’d say Louvre is definitely worth spending for.

Centre Pompidou

Place Georges-Pompidou, 75004 Paris

Sometimes if they have a current exhibition, they only allow access for free on the permanent collections FYI.
