Lesson 1 Fashion Drawing Using Adobe Illustrator CC

Hi everyone, this is a long overdue post for my last video on YouTube. Sometimes, I tend to just do things quickly and I did not have the time to write them down. So this one, I’m going to write while watching my video.

In case you missed it, here is the video on my channel.

Steps/ Tools used in order of appearance in the video.

Open Adobe Illustrator…File – New Open

Select the Selection Tool (V) on your tools – Right Click (RC) on your laptop to show the rulers, point on the rulers and select CM or inches.

Start drawing lines with the Pen Tool (P)

To draw a line, click from one point to the other.

To draw separate lines, click from starting point and then click on the end point. Hit P on your keyboard, then start making the next line. You have to click P, each time you want to do a separate line.

To draw curved lines, you have to hold your mouse on the second point, move your mouse on the opposite direction of your intended curve and cure. This takes some practice.

To reflect, using V tool, select the entire drawing, right-click, select Transform – Reflect (note, make sure to select “copy” so that you have the other half reflected).

You can modify the points, using the Direct Selection Tool (A) by clicking on any points and moving the anchors to edit the shape of the curve or move points.

To color, I used the Paint Bucket Tool (K)

For the strokes that shows the movement of clothes, I used the Pencil Tool (N)
