Easter Bunny Pillow Case

Hi everyone! If you just learned this lesson with me…welcome! If you are a reader of this blog, you can see this under “Workshop – References” as it is one of the lessons we have in our sewing lessons in Paris. (Filipino Version – click here).

Ok let’s get started. First you have to get a fabric for your pillow case. I would choose one print of fabric for the entire pillow.

  1. Cut them in the following sizes:

1 piece 36 x 36 cm (plus 1 cm all around for seam allowance)

1 piece 15 x 36 cm (plus 1 cm all around for seam allowance)

1 piece 28 x 36 cm (plus 1 cm all around for seam allowance)

2. For this tutorial, I added placing a bunny on the front side of the bag, you could skip this step and go to step 6 if you are a beginner or if you simply don’t want to add any print.

3. Pin the bunny on the front side of your pillow (mine is on the lower right side) and sew all around it. You can make your stitches bigger/smaller for decorative purposes.

4. Here’s how it looks like. Choose a fabric that won’t fray that much, like a jersey or t-shirt fabric. I chose this one as it looks nice with my light teal green theme at home.

5. This is how it looks like when it’s finished.

6. For the back pieces, fold them 1cm, and then fold another 1 cm. Iron, then sew 2 stitches 1 cm apart to finish the edge.

7. For the upper back piece – sew the bottom portion

8. For the lower back piece – sew the upper portion

9. Place the front piece on the table. Place the upper back portion on top of it (right sides facing).

10. Place the lower portion on top of it (right side facing down). It should be topmost of all the 3 pieces. You can use pins, i just used laundry clips to hold them down.

11. Pin the back pieces together to fix them in place. In the center.

12. Pin them on the sides. I usually keep the clips to hold them in some areas as i pin.

13. Sew 1 cm from the edge at all sides of the pillow.

14. For this demo, I use pinking shears to trim off the excess fabric. You can use an overlock to finish this edge.

15. Turn it inside out and make sure to iron out the seams neatly so the edges look sharp.

16. This is how it looks like from the back.

The finished product with a pillow inside! Checkout above our Workshops – Sewing 1 to see the other pillows I did with mixed fabrics. You can also add piping for decoration. I’ll link it here when I do a tutorial for that. Thank you!
