Disclaimer: I used to judge people who just post a youtube link to their tutorial and not even do a step-by-step screenshot on their blog. I now know why. LOL! It’s really much easier to watch the video. However, in support of my “old” me and to those who might need it, i’ll write down the steps below.
Or you could just watch it here:
Steps to follow.
- Search for your images on Google Images.
- I usually type in (whatever you’re looking for) + Vector
- In this case, I’m adding the word “silhouette” because all I need is the outline of the bunny.
- If you’re reselling these, please choose a copyright-free image.
- Download the image by RMC (right-mouse click) and File – Save as
- Open a New File on Adobe Illustrator (Cmd/Ctrl + N)
- Open the Image File (Cmd/Ctrl + O)
- Using the V-Tool (my apologies, I kept saying “A” Tool on the video) click on the image and on top of it, click on Image Trace.
- Once you do this, a small square beside the word “view” would appear, and this box gives you more options.
- Scroll Down, till you see the Advanced tab
- Check on the box that says “ignore” white. This cuts out the white parts of the image, making the background transparent.
- Unselect the image
- Using the V tool, click on the now drawing and copy paste to another paper: Cmd/Ctrl +C (copy), Cmd/Ctrl +C (copy),
- On the new paper, you can now hold down the drawing using V tool and hold on the Opt/Alt Key and drag your mouse to create several copies.
- Now, you can change the colors. (Window – Swatches)
- For more colors, click on the options at the upper right corner – Open Swatch Library – Color Books – Pantone Solid Coated
- On the Tool bar, you’d also see an arrow that switches the fill and stroke color. You could do that to switch it to outline.
- Window – Stroke – to change the thickness of the line
- Once you have all the prints you needed, you can save them as PDF file and print.
