Making my own pencil skirt in African Wax Print!

If you are in Paris and want to find great fabrics, just go to Marché Saint Pierre Dreyfus (2 Rue Charles Nodier, 75018 Paris, I usually take Metro Anvers Line 2, Walk up to see Sacred Heart Church then turn to the right).

Ok back to my skirt, my body is I guess like most bodies, is different. I sometimes don’t fit in medium skirts but at the same time large ones are too heavy. If you have this problem, sewing your own skirt is the best option. Plus, I like skirts with slits on them and most skirts don’t have one.

This African Wax print is just crazy colorful beautiful fun. I don’t know what else to say. And you won’t believe how much attention it gets lol. I hesitated buying more as people always ask me about my skirt. But if you do buy one, get those with sequins!!! In french they call them pailletes.

So first I do a skirt block (oh boy that’s another blog).

From the skirt block I cut out the pieces along the dart lines so I could make a slit, the one in yellow has two slits in front while the other one has one slit.

I then cut them and sew. (I will do drawing diagram next time).

I like that this material is quite sturdy and it makes for a good fit without having to put lining or anything. And during summer, it feels cool.
